# NetKingdoms

> NetKingdoms is a passive browser MMO that maps the real internet through players' natural navigation. Every domain you visit for 12+ seconds is claimed as a territory for your faction.

## What it is

NetKingdoms is a free, open-source browser extension (Chrome, Firefox coming soon) that turns everyday browsing into a real-time territorial strategy game. Players join one of three factions — Fondeurs (Tech/Dev), Spectres (Social/News), or Nomades (Culture/Niche) — and passively capture domains as they browse the web.

## Season 0 — Pre-launch

The game is in Season 0 (pre-launch). The map is almost entirely unclaimed. Early explorers are the first to establish territories on what will become the definitive map of the real internet.

## Key mechanics

- **Dwell time**: 12 seconds minimum to capture a domain — real visits only
- **Territories**: Every unique domain is a capturable territory
- **Factions**: Three factions compete for dominance across Tech, Social, and Culture zones
- **Live map**: Interactive visualization of all captured domains in real time
- **Clan wars**: Groups of players can declare war on rival clans over specific zones
- **Ephemeral sites**: Bonus domains worth ×5 points for 24 hours
- **Seasonal resets**: Each season resets the map, preserving archived snapshots

## Privacy

NetKingdoms records only the domain name (e.g., `github.com`) — never the full URL, page content, or any personal data. The extension is open source and privacy by design.
